2018 Chardonnay Musqué:

100% Chardonnay Musqué clone 809.

Harvest:   This unique clone is rarely used as a stand alone Chardonnay. It is hard to find and thankfully I got my hands on some in Chalk Hill. The vines were picked early, early morning at 23.4 brix and brought back to the winery in excellent condition and very cold.

Winemaking: The Chardonnay Musqué was whole cluster pressed and allowed to cold settle overnight. Then the juice was racked and fermented cold in neutral French oak barrels. After fermentation, the wine was allowed to go through partial malolactic fermentation. The barrels were stirred weekly, and tasted periodically to find the perfect time to stop malolactic fermentation. The barrels continued to be stirred weekly until bottling.

Tasting notes: A creamy light golden hued wine with exquisite aromas of orange blossom, jasmine and fresh apricot. Lengthy finish lingers with vanilla and wet slate.
